Hi, God
Ten years ago, when I was first called into this ministry, I asked God, “What do You want from me?” His answer has stayed with me ever since: He wants His people to really know Him.
For me, that means remembering that life, circumstances, and even our own history can make it feel like we cannot go to God just as we are. There is often a part of us that whispers, “He is too busy for me. He does not care. I have failed too many times. I have disappointed Him. I am not worth His time.” And so we hesitate. We are afraid to approach Him because we picture God like a human, someone who could get hurt, turn away, or be upset with us.
But He is not like that. He is the Creator. The One who made you in His image. He wants to celebrate the good with you, walk with you through the hard, messy days, and sit with you while your heart aches and tears fall. He wants to know you, not as a list of accomplishments or failures, but as you.
So here is the invitation: can we put aside our human uncertainty, fear, and doubt, and simply start? “Hi, God.” “I do not know why I am here, but You have me.” He may already know your next move, but that is the beauty of relationship. You get to show up, and He gets to meet you there.
When we take these steps, even in small moments, something incredible happens. He begins to truly know the real you, your fears, your joys, your messes, your heart. And at the same time, you begin to really know Him, His patience, His delight, His steadfast love, and His presence in every ordinary and extraordinary moment. Relationship with God is not about perfection or a plan. It is about showing up, being known, and discovering Him in the process. The more we do it, the more we realize this is life. This is intimacy. This is what it means to walk with God and be known by Him.
