God never handed us a to-do list to be loved

Noah and I have been talking with a lot of people lately who feel stuck in the cycle of striving.
Honestly? So do we sometimes.
Striving feels good in the moment.
It gives us a sense of control, of progress, of doing something.
But most of the time, if we’re honest, we’re not doing it for God... we’re doing it for us.
To feel better.
To feel enough.
To keep checking off some invisible list in hopes we’ll finally earn rest, peace, or approval.
God never asked us to live like that.
He never handed us a clipboard and said, “Here’s your to-do list to be loved.”
He handed us a gift.
Unconditional, relentless love.
No strings attached.
But it feels too simple, doesn’t it?
We tell ourselves there has to be more to it.
It can't just be grace.
It can't just be presence.
Not when everything else in life requires effort, performance, and working our way to the top.
But God is different.
He doesn’t fit into the systems we’ve built.
He doesn’t ask us to work for something He’s already given.
Abiding isn’t about doing—
It’s about bringing Him with you.
Into the mess.
Into the ordinary.
Into the doubts and the good intentions and the days when striving sneaks in again.
It’s about sitting, receiving, and enjoying a relationship with the One who loves you unconditionally.
What a gift.
And what a relief.
