Day 213 - Oneness

In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. —JOHN 1:1

There is a phrase often taken lightly and rarely understood by the speaker, but one which stirs God’s compassion, love, His loss, His gain, His forgiveness, His hopes, His desires, and His pain. This one phrase can do all of the above. It is a sacred phrase! It gives the speaker the benefit of all of God’s goodness, His fellowship, His constant care, His listening ear, and His loving heart.

The phrase that does all of this is: the blood of Jesus! When we ask in the blood of Jesus all that is within God is stirred. This phrase calls to our attention the very character of God. He is reminded of His great love and oneness with the Son, the loss of His Son, judgment, and finally, new birth. Is not this phrase sacred? Should not the believer be careful when invoking it?

Should we not expect great things when asked in the blood of Jesus? This one phrase reminds God of the condition of His creatures, their failure, their sin, their self-centeredness, their need for Him to do something, the sending of His Son, the crucifixion, the jeering mob, the denial of a nation, a city, and even the Son’s followers. Be careful how you use this phrase, but do use it! “And they overcame him because of the blood of the Lamb” (Revelation 12:11).
