The Jericho March

NEW POST: CHAPTER 7: EXCERPT 3 – “When Caesar Seems To Have The Upper Hand”:Pacific Islands:
Pacific Islands:
I witnessed what was obviously the work of western lobbyists trying to change the constitution of a traditional country’s government to embrace sinful behavior. At a rally I was the first to the platform. I spoke on the Way, the Way written into our being, Jesus. I spoke on the need for systems to support the people. Many alternative systems nestle themselves around the Christian system and claim to be better; however, when the Christian system is removed, the others crumble. I explained that Christianity is never on trial, because life proves it. The sinful behavior is not on trial, because sin and punishment are one and the same. However, the government is on trial. We do not have the authority, so we do not have the responsibility, but it does. Finally, I ended with a plea to the churches. “What gets your attention will get you. Do not let this issue become the focus of the Church. We are called to be redemptive, not to be anti-sin preachers.” There were three more speeches (and lots of music) after mine. The last speaker was a letdown. My personal experience is that every time someone stands up and proclaims to be God’s apostle and God’s mouthpiece, it spells trouble. I knew everyone from the Hindu to the sinners would bear the brunt of his condemnation. I just wished he would stop. Well, amen! After the rally, the church folks decided to march around the city park, requesting that as a foreigner I stay away, since they did not want the government to view me as protesting against it. They decided to do a “Jericho” march, lining up eight across and walking around the city park seven times very solemnly and without making a sound. When they came to a stop in front of the platform, a trumpet sounded with a deafening blast; and all the people, with arms stretched upward, in unison shouted, “God hear our prayer!” Then the band erupted as the crowd sang, “I went to the enemy and took back my soul from him.” It was all truly moving to watch.
I went by a house today that is magnificent. It is interesting how the government came into possession of the house. The owner had worked in this country, made a lot of money, and paid just as much in taxes. He got back at the government for the incredibly high taxes by giving them the house with the stipulation that it be maintained but never sold. It costs $400,000 annually to maintain! Now the government gets a taste of its own medicine by always having to pay him for the upkeep.

Hi Mike as i read your words on arriving in India it takes me back to Kampala where l was ministering a couple of weeks ago, I must say even though Kampala is up there with the poorest of cities in the world l did not see the poverty that you have described, my husband and I came over to minister in a church in the slums of Kampala it was a big culture shock for me too, watching little children scavenge around in the rubbish pulled out of the open drains all over Kampala was truely eye opening for me, i have read about it but l think you have to experience it first hand to understand how these people live, we spent some time in the interior with some Churches Jonah had planted, we loved the people and they wanted to share their food with us and l can still see us having to leave early to get to some other place eating goat meat of a stick (takeway African style) The people were so kind to us and made us feel very much at home, l hope if God leaves the door open to go again. Thankyou for your faithfullness in teaching the abiding life message it has helped me enormously it my counselling, i hope to get to some more seminars in the future. Blessing to you and your family…Carole Derrington

Hi Mike, our father is truly amazing. I was a self righteous legalist, and didnot comprehend the depth of father’s love, i thought so highly of myself. Iam now thankful for the deepest darkest valleys (failures) in my life where father miraculously revealed himself. I love your messages on abiding life, they have been a great inspiration in my grace walk. We’ve had the priviledge of getting some of your books here in Kampala, awesome material. We pray that the Lord enables you and your team to visit Uganda sometime to share his glorious gospel!!
Carole-Iam ugandan, i live on the outskirts of kampala, the next time you visit, your welcome to our home and fellowship/ We would love to have you.
I picked up a copy of ‘Untold Stories & Unknown Saints’ at Ray Andrews Training Seminar in September in Sawtell, Australia (great time). It has taught me more in a few weeks about abiding, mission and the world, than I have learned in the past 25 years. Engrossing read.
I have just got back on this site to read some of Mikes stories, I enjoy reading of the places he has been, Irene if i do come back to Uganda l would love to meet with you too, we keep in touch with a Pastor Jonah Kewere and are in partnership is helping build a school in Kampala. Blessing from Carole.
Dear Mike,
The Pastor read Watchman Nee, you were reading Andrew Murray… and I was reading Sidetracked in the Wilderness. I’m STILL reading it….
Thank you, Mike!
Well, ain’t that the truth!!!……
Truth Be Told…. A comment for Self…
When ‘self’ is not interested in the truth being told, especially the whole truth, relationships from friends to nations are shredded.
There is a difference between ‘The Truth’ and ‘The Whole Truth’.
In court, we swear to tell ‘The Truth, and The Whole Truth’…with good reason.
Half Truths…provide opportunity to fill in the blanks with imagined truths, embellished truths, guessing the truth, assuming the truth, and finishing the truth to work in favor of an agenda.
Imagine the scope of physical, emotional, mental and spiritual harm created everyday, every hour, and every minute in our world by …..Half Truths alone…..
Hearts impaled with subtly (and not so subtly) uttered non-truths…spewed out in an effort to justify action or inaction.
The Truth can be so hard to hear, so difficult to speak, so painful to accept, especially when ego is at risk of being revealed…..Truth Be Told.
Hi Mike
You visited with us in our tiny town in north Queensland approximately 16yrs ago & completely changed my thinking & my walk with God as you opened up His truths in a way i had never heard before. I have only just opened up once again ‘sidetracked in the wilderness’ & am being blessed. Just to say thank you & am looking forward to more of ‘Abundant Life Ministries’.
Thanks heaps
blessings
